A new polymer (C5H9NO2)(2)[La(H2O)(7)CrMo6H6O24] - 11H(2)O (1), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Compound 1 exhibits a novel one-dimensional (1-D) chain-like structure consisting of Anderson-type polyoxoanions hexamolybdochromate [CrMo6H6O24](3-) covalently linked by hydrated La3+ ions, furthermore pseudo-2-D layers can be formed owing to the strong (La)OH2...O hydrogen bonds among adjacent chains.
