Assembly of oximate-bridged Mn-6 cluster to a one-dimensional chain

Hexanuclear [(Mn6O2)-O-III(Hsalaox)(6)(MeOH)(4)(MeCO2)(2)]center dot 4MeOH center dot 2H(2)O (1) and polymeric [(Mn6O2)-O-III(Hsalaox)(6) (MeOH)(6)(tp)]center dot 12H(2)O (2) are prepared by the reaction of Mn2+, salicylamidoxime (H(3)salaox) and corresponding carboxylates (tp(2-) = terephthalate). Magnetic studies show that both complexes display slow magnetization relaxation.
