Effect of acetazolamide on brain swelling and aquaporin‐4 expression in rats brain after ischemic stroke

Objective(#br)To study the effect of acetazolamide(AZA) on cerebral edema and aquaporin‐ 4 (AQP4) expression after cerebral infarction in rats. To explore the relations between ischemic cerebral edema and AQP4 expression.(#br)Methods(#br)150 male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group, non‐intervention group, AZA treatment group. Each group was divided into five subgroups according to the time of cerebral ischemia (6h, 1d, 3d, 5d and 7d), and there were 10 rats in each subgroup . The rats model of cerebral infarction was adopted by means of bilateral carotid arteries ligation(2‐VO) method. The treatment group was given intraperitoneal injection of AZA, while the sham operation group and the non‐intervention group were injected the same amount of normal saline at the corresponding time point above.
