摘要

Sequences partly homologous to the first translated exon of the overlapping tat and rev regulatory genes of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) were detected in the human genome by hybridization under mild conditions. The tat/rev-like sequences of human chromosome 19 were cloned and analyzed. In some cases tat/rev-like genomic elements appeared to be adjacent. A number of sequences showing 50-65% homology with one of the cloned tat/rev-like elements were revealed in gene banks. Most homologous regions are at the 5' or 3' untranslated gene regions in various organisms, from primitive eukaryotes to humans. In total, hybridization under mild conditions revealed approximately a dozen tat/rev-like elements on chromosome 19 and 500-1000 elements in the whole human genome.
