The integration of mental health services in medical settings is showing promise in improving health care, including lowering costs, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing access to care. However, there is limited information regarding how primary care providers utilize and implement integrated mental health programs, particularly in university settings. The current study evaluates primary care providers' experience with integrated care in the context of a university student health center. A descriptive survey was used to evaluate primary care providers' experience with student mental health issues, as well as their perception and satisfaction with an existing integrated behavioral health program. Results indicated that primary care providers recognized their own limitations in diagnosing and treating mental health concerns, and greatly valued collaborating with mental health providers in the same setting. Specific implications for these findings, as well as limitations associated with this study, are addressed.
