摘要

This article reviews the advances in metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC). The method is widely used for separation and characterization of a variety of biological macromolecules in biochemistry, molecular biology and related sciences. This review describes basic principles of the method. Various types of matrices, chelating ligands and immobilized metal ions, their utilization and advantages or disadvantages are discussed. Applications of IMAC to isolation, fractionation and separation of natural organic ligands from aquatic or soil environment are presented.
