Analysis of Enhanced Heat Transfer Performance Through Duct with Constant Wall Temperature

The effects on heat transfer and rational efficiency are studied experimentally by inserting trapezoidal elements into the inner tube of a double tube heat exchanger. In the experiments, hot water is kept still outside of the inner tube where the cold water passes. Though the pressure drops with the wider insert increase, obviously, 2.0 times the convection heat transfer coefficient and 1.4 times the exergetic efficiency are obtained compared to the empty tube in the experiments. The experiments are performed at Reynolds numbers between 1532 and 3677. With the increase of the Reynolds number, the rational efficiency reduces rapidly in all cases.
