摘要
A V-band traveling-wave tube (TWT) prevails nowadays as an amplifier device for satellite communication and electronic countermeasures. The folded waveguide (FW) is a promising slow-wave structure for V-band TWT with advantages of high power and considerable bandwidth. A novel FW periodically loaded with right-angled rectangular grooves is analyzed for the purpose of gaining higher power within a shorter circuit. The radio-frequency characteristics are investigated by numerical simulation, and the nonlinear large-signal performance of such a TWT is analyzed by a 3-D particle-in-cell code MAGIC. Compared with normal circuits, a relatively higher continuouswave power (60-80 W) and a similar bandwidth (5 GHz) at V-band are predicted by simulation. Meanwhile, the novel circuit is also shorter when the output power becomes saturated. It, therefore, will favor the miniaturized design of a broadband and high-power V-band TWT.
