Objective To design a new device to determine the filtering efficiency of air-purifying particulate mask.Methods New test device was developed according to the principle of filtration efficiency performance test.We focused on the mask filter material fixed device and interface connection design.In new device,air flow rate was measured by the air flow control device,the particle concentrations inside and outside the mask were determined by PortaCount and the filtration efficiency were calculated.We used the device to determine 50 masks of five brands bought from the market.Results The device was easy to install,the sealing performance of the mask was good.We used silicone tubes to connect air flow control device and PortaCount.The interface of tube was tight,and its hardness and flexibility were strong enough to ensure the reliability and stability of the results.50 different types of mask were tested,4 kinds of type N95 mask could meet the filtration efficiency.The filtration efficiency of the filtration material for medical use was lower than that of type N95 mask.Conclusion The new test device was simple and easy to use,it could be used to rapidly test mask filtration efficiency of air-purifying particulate masks.It is suitable for non-professional units for mask design,sales or using.
