A new macrocyclic [FeFe]-hydrogenase H cluster model

A novel macrocyclic complex [Fe-2(CO)(6){mu-(S(CH2)(3))(2)S}](2) (2) has been synthesized by the reaction of Fe-3(CO)(12) with 1,2,6,10,11,15-hexathiacyclooctadecane (1). This tetranuclear macrocyclic complex has been isolated and characterized by IR spectroscopy, H-1 NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry as well as elemental analysis. The solid state structures of 1,2,6,10,11,15-hexathiacyclooctadecane (1) and [Fe-2(CO)(6){mu-(S(CH2)(3))(2)S}](2) (2) were determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis.
