摘要

Aluminium (Al) inhibits prenatal and postnatal development of the brain. We used Al-26 as a tracer, and measured Al-26 incorporation into rat fetuses through the placental barrier by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). From day 15 to day 18 of gestation, (AlCl3)-Al-26 was subcutaneously injected into pregnant rats. Considerable amounts of Al-26 were measured in the tissues of newborn rats immediately after birth. The amounts of Al-26 in the liver and kidneys decreased rapidly during postnatal development. However, approximately 15% of Al-26 incorporated into the brain of fetuses remained in the brain of adult rats 730 days after birth.
