摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine the tolerance of the oligochaete Branchiura sowerbyi Beddard and its capacity to accumulate fluoride (F) by performing short-term (96-hr LC50) and long-term experiments (18 days) at different temperatures (17 degrees C and 22 degrees C). LC50 values showed that this aquatic worm is more resistant to F than other freshwater invertebrates, especially in the presence of sediment. Moreover, the effects of fluoride on gametogenesis were examined by exposing this oligochaete to concentrations 50 to 100 times above the normal of 0.1-0.3 mg F/L for five months from the end of February 2012 to the end of July 2012. The results revealed temporal differences in the gametogenesis phases of treated specimens, such as incomplete spermatozoa maturation when exposed to the highest fluoride concentration. At the end of the experiment, the exposed animals were thinner and shorter than the control, and normal cocoon deposition did not occur.
