摘要

By using the biblio-metrics method, articles, authors and citations in 60 issues of Journal of South China University of Technology (Natural Science Edition) (Journal of SCUT for short) from 2006 to 2010, were statistically analyzed. The results were then compared with those in the literature. It is found that (1) a large number of articles are yearly published in Journal of SCUT, among which the number of articles on the subject of "Electro-nics, Communication & Automation Technology" is the largest and has been increasing year by year; (2) in this journal, 90.69% of the published articles are supported by foundation funds, the average publication delay of articles shows a gradual decrease; (3) 97.99% of the articles are co-authored and the average number of the authors of each article is 3.36; (4) Besides the United States, the first authors are from twenty-four provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as well as Hong Kong in China; (5) 42.12% of the authors are professors or associate professors, 78.51% of the authors hold the Ph. D. degree or are post doctorates, 30.31% of the authors are at the age of less than 30, and 38.83% of the authors are between the ages of 31 and 40; and (6) the average number of references per paper is 12.03, 62.07% of which are written in English, and 73.84% are cited from journals, which indicates that the journal is of a high-level citation in varied types.
