摘要

The need for materials which combine large nonlinear optical characteristics with resistance to physical and chemical attack and good growth properties have led to the investigation of semi-organic materials. An optically negative nonlinear optical crystal cadmium mercury thiocyanate has been prepared by slow solvent evaporation method. The grown crystal was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique to determine the cell parameters. The spectroscopic studies revealed that the grown crystal has good optical transparency. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was found from Vickers microhardness measurement and the conductivity analysis was carried out using complex impedance spectra.
