摘要
The surface of Au nanoparticles (NPs) modified with nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), which is used for site-specific labeling in protein structural analysis, was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The S 2p(3/2) spectrum consisted of two components assigned to the Au-S and S-S bonds. The energies of the Au-S and S-S components were determined to be 161.7 and 163.2 eV, respectively. The FWHM of the component of the Au-S bond was 0.2 eV narrower than that of the S-S bond. It was found that NTA-modified Au NP solution included many unbound precursor molecules of NTA, which can be reduced by repeated cycles of ultrafiltration.
