摘要

An engineering design project involves complex information flows, and is hard to manage without effective tools such as the design structure matrix (DSM). A new extension of DSM is proposed to facilitate managers to split some tasks so as to simplify the information flows and to minimize information feedbacks. A new chromosome is designed to constitute the data structure for task splitting and partitioning. Hence, an integrated one-stage genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize the information flows. An illustrative example is used to test the extension and the genetic algorithm, and the result shows that the algorithm helps to reduce information feedbacks.
