In this paper, an OTST-ESPRIT algorithm is proposed to jointly estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) and the propagation delay of multipath signals in wireless network communication environments. This new method uses OT-ESPRIT algorithm to estimate delays and OS-ESPRIT algorithm to estimate DOAs, respectively. In OT-ESPRIT or OS-ESPRIT algorithm, only one step eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) is needed to estimate delays or DOAs. Compared with the previous works the new approach calls for low computational complexity, but it exhibits superior performance, such as more precise, better robustness to signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) change. It is applicable to a lower SNR scenario. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
