An Active Services Discovery Mechanism Based on ECA Rules of Active Database

Active service is a Web service which can be customized by the requirement of customer. Active services discovery and active services customization are two important mechanisms to actualize active services. Traditional Web services discovery is a static process which not only need customer have knowledge in relevant field and also waste a lot of time. Through the mining of association rules, we can rind the potential relationship in the process of services requirement and feedback of customer. Association rules can be used to improve the initiative and interactivity of services discovery. This paper explains the principle of services discovery in the aspect of initiative and intelligent. And then, this paper proposed a way to convert the association rules to ECA (Event Condition Action) rules, applying active database technology in services discovery and improve the implementation mechanism of services discovery. Through combining association rules mining technology with active database technology, the architecture of an active services discovery is proposed for the first time. It can increase the search-retrieval rate and the recall rate of services discovery, enhancing the real-time and consistency of the system. Finally the paper use a practicality application system WICS (Web Information Consultation System) to testify the validity of the conclusion.
