摘要

The Guangzhou New TV Tower with a height of about 610 meters is presently the tallest TV tower in the world. Wind load and wind effects on the tower are the key factors for the structural design. Due to its special structural form, it is very difficult to measure the wind pressures on the entire tower. Moreover, because high modal responses of the tower could occur under wind excitation, the high-frequency balance technique also can not be used for this technique can measure only the first mode generalized wind forces. A new experimental technique is proposed for the wind tunnel test. The entire tower was divided into 19 sections and individually tested in TJ-2 Wind Tunnel. This paper presents the sentional models of the tower, the experimental method and the testing results. The test results will be adopted for the structural design and for computation of wind induced responses of the tower. The present wind tunnel test method could also be used as a reference for wind-resistant design of similar complex super-tall structures.
