A novel one-pot sequential four-component strategy has been developed for the synthesis of tetrahydroquinazolines using either an aliphatic or an acyl halide, an isocyanide, and a 1,3-diamine, in methanol at 60 degrees C, in good to moderate yields without using a catalyst.
