摘要

Graphics transmission over wireless local area network is more challenging than over wired network. These challenges are particularly difficult because of the erroneous nature of the wireless channel. In this paper, an efficient hybrid FEC and Mac-Lite model transmission Protocol in WLAN is proposed based on the fact that graphics data can tolerate some bit-errors without noticeable degradation in quality. Before the transmission, the model is divided into important base model data and less important detail data. And then, they are transmitted by modified protocol based on FEC and sensitive data dependent Mac-Lite protocol respectively according to their different importance. The simulation results demonstrate that network throughput and end-to-end delay have significant improvement while the graphics quality has no apparent degradation. ? 2009 Binary Information Press.
