摘要

Objective: A case of nasal aspergillosis in a cat is reported. Diagnostic steps, therapeutic options with regards to potential side effects, and course of the disease are presented and discussed. Material and methods: A one-year-old spayed female cat was presented with clinical signs of sneezing, ocular and nasal discharge, and conjunctivitis. There was no improvement after several weeks of antibiotics and symptomatic therapy. Radiography, computed tomography, rhinoscopy as well as histopathologic and mycologic examinations were carried out. Results: White-grey masses were detected endoscopically in the nasopharynx. Fungal culture revealed growth of Aspergillus fumigatus, Mycotic nasal plugs were extracted endoscopically. Afterwards, systemic treatment with itraconazole was initiated. Additionally, the nasal cavity was flushed with 1% clotrimazole solution under general anesthesia. With these therapeutical steps complete clinical remission was accomplished. Conclusions and clinical relevance: Nasal aspergillosis is a rare infectious disease in the cat. However, it should always be considered as differential diagnosis in animals with chronic rhinitis. In addition to systemic antimycotic therapy, intranasal infusion with clotrimazole solution can also be performed in cats.
