Performance evaluation is particularly significant in search engine researches. Doing researches on the assessment methods of search engine and then finding out ways to improve it have become an important way to improve the performance of search engine. The performance of search engine involves many aspects, such as depth of the search, response time, content extraction, ease of use, etc. Traditional evaluation methods depend on much human efforts and are therefore quite time-consuming. In this paper, we analyze the user behavior, and then propose an automatic session parsing algorithm (ASP-Algorithm) for search engine performance evaluation from user's perspective. Experimental results show that ASP-Algorithm can better reflect the gaps between search engine and user expectations.
