摘要

During the past several decades, many anthropologists, social psychologists and communication scholars have tried to find out in what ways culture influences individual experiences and behaviors to solve the problems and misunderstandings occurring in the cross-cultural communication. Up to now, scholars have advanced a number of theories to explain cultural variability, among which the cultural dimensions, especially the dimension of individualism-collectivism have become one of the primary and basic focuses that determine human actions and behaviors in interpersonal relationship. This paper mainly concludes the recent research on the cultural dimensions in communication, hoping to offer a glimpse into the complicated process of interpersonal communication.
