A novel route involving an In situ chemical reduction process to the one-dimensional nanostructures of bismuth trioxide

摘要

A bismuth citrate precursor has been used to yield bismuth trioxide with single-crystalline one-dimensional (1D) morphologies in the temperature range of 400 degrees-600 degrees C. The growth process of the nanorods has been investigated using a series of experiments wherein different polymorphs of Bi2O3 are developed along with the nonstoichiometric bismuth oxides. The nonstoichiometric oxides are generated in situ and facilitate the formation of metastable polymorphs and 1D nanostructures of Bi2O3.
