摘要

Criminologists work in a three-dimensional space. Each of these dimensions - theoretical/empirical research; profession/affected parties; science/policy - is mostly conducted in a negative, one-sided evaluative manner, instead of emphasising its ambivalent and dialectical interactions in a more useful way. Together, the three dimensions form a "field of criminal-policy" under a "cultural umbrella" which, whilst strongly pressured from the outside, nevertheless acts on the outside conception of common-sense; even then, when critical criminologists believe that they are working independently of such interactional constraints. This article discusses some of the consequences for the societal role of criminologists and poses a number of possible critical research themes.
