摘要

We report the synthesis of high density Au coated TiO2 nanocomposites by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. In order to get small and uniformly distributed Au nanoparticles, the HAuCl4 solution needed to be adjusted to pH 7. The Au/TiO2 nanocomposites were synthesized mainly through Au reduction promoted by UV irradiation and followed by physisorption of the metallic Au nanocrystals onto the TiO2 nanopowder, rather than by a photocatalytic reaction of TiO2 nanopowder. The UV irradiation may enhance the synthesis of the nanocomposites in part by increasing the temperature and promoting the photocatalytic reaction of the TiO2 nanopowder.
