摘要

The fast development of lithium ion batteries is due to the instigation by industry and demand from users. For these reasons, many researchers and battery developers need to study, understand and improve the action-reaction behaviour in the components of batteries and manufacture better batteries. Mathematical modelling gives researchers much information in order to understand the reaction and performance inside the electrodes of batteries. In this paper, a mathematical model of lithium ion is presented to simulate the intercalation process in the electrode of a lithium ion battery. A diffusion derived model is used to model the intercalation process during charge/discharge of a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The numerical method called finite difference method is used to solve the model equations. The solutions will focus only on the concentration profile in a lithium ion battery within a solution phase.
