A forecasting model of product recovery amount for the reverse supply chain

Reverse supply chain is one of the significant tactics to achieve the sustainable development of the manufacturing industry. The scientific product recovery forecasting is the prerequisite and foundation correctly making a strategic decision. This paper gives some discussions on genetic algorithms that are applied to the problem of the model choice of product recovery forecast. The model in the model base is coded to the population of the genetic operations. Then, new models or combinations of the models created by cross and mutate on operation. Furthermore, the generated models will be self-adaptive and self-learning. They can be scored by some evaluations that are regarded as the individual fitness to be the choice operation of the genetic algorithm. Finally, a better model of recovery forecast is produced to forecast the product recovery amount. As an example, the forecast analysis of the discarded product recovery is illustrated.
