摘要

The palliative care unit does not aim at curing but caring for the dying person. The tool presented promotes the expression of life experience and allows to word the unspeakable. It is based upon the analogy between the human being and the tree. Through the identification of the human being with the tree, the drawing and the narrative that goes with it in the protocal give an image representing the person's experience. A case exemplifies the method of collection of information and analysis. The test of the Three Trees in palliative cares favours the building of a more authentic relationship of the person with their own self and with others. Thanks to metaphors, the tree evokes death as an event which ends a life but which does not stop life.
