摘要

The coupled thermo-elasticity problem in a thick-walled sphere is solved analytically using an innovative technique in conjunction with the finite Hankel transform. Time-dependent thermal and mechanical boundary conditions are assumed to act on the boundaries of the sphere. For the thermal boundary conditions, the temperature itself is prescribed on the boundaries. For the mechanical boundary conditions, the tractions are prescribed on both the inner and the outer surfaces of the hollow sphere. The transient thermo-mechanical response of the sphere is derived and then closed-form relations are extracted for the thermo-elastic stresses. Thermal shock was observed after plotting the results.
