In the crystal structure of the title compound, [ Mg( C10H6NO2) (2)( H2O) (2)] center dot 2H(2)O center dot 2CH(3)OH, the Mg atom ( site symmetry 1) adopts a slightly distorted trans- MgN2O4 octahedral geometry arising from two N, O- bidentate quinaldine ligands and two water molecules. The structure is stabilized by intermolecular O - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.
