摘要

This paper presents the principle of gamma absorption method and its application to two phase flow evaluation in pipelines. It shows how the gamma absorption set, consisting of two radioactive sources Am-241 and two scintillation probes, may be applied to the measurement of minority phase velocity (bubbles in a liquid-gas flow and nodules in hydrotransport of solid phase). These phenomena were investigated in a horizontal, and in a vertical flows. The paper is divided into five sections. The first is a short introduction to the subject. Section 2 presents the basis of the gas and solid phase velocity measurement using the gamma absorption method. Next section describes two laboratory installations. The cross-correlation and cross-spectral analysis of recorded signals and the uncertainty evaluation of the mean velocity are given in Section 4. The uncertainty of the mean velocity of minority phase of the mixture is reduced to 0,5% for gas and to 1% for solid particles. Section 5 summarizes the results and gives final remarks. The authors conclude that the gamma absorption measurements in connection with statistical methods of signal analysis based on cross-correlation and phase spectrum may be applied to many complex mixtures transported through horizontal and vertical pipelines.
