The use of phamidoxH(2) (phamidoxH(2) = 2-dihydroxy-2-phenylacetamidine) in manganese cluster chemistry led to the synthesis and characterization of a hexametallic and an octametallic Mn-III cluster, both of which display a S = 3 ground state.
