摘要
Chloro-Alkali (CA) plants are among the basic plants available in chemical process industries. Using brine as the feed for the electrolysis process to provide different chemical compounds as the feed for other processes and final products, makes corrosion a major problem in such plants. As the industrial electrolysis processes involve very high values of DC current, high magnetic field is inevitable. In this work, a study on the effect of magnetic field on corrosion in the CA plant is performed. Results reveal that there is a direct correlation between the high magnetic field in the cell-room of this plant and the relevant damages that have been observed. Cyclic voltammetry, tafel polarization, open circuit potential measurement and weight loss have been used for evaluation of corrosion properties of samples under different magnetic fields.
