摘要

Anthroposophical medicine (AM) is a whole medical system according to the American National center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and should be seriously investigated as such. Anthroposophical medicine considers the various levels in humans of (1) the physical body, which is shared with the mineral kingdom, (2) the life force organization, shared with the plant kingdom, (3) the soul, shared with the animal kingdom and (4) the specific human spiritual level. In AM the complete medical treatment of cancer patients consists of an individual multimodal therapy concept which incorporates responses at all four levels. It is remarkable that the practical measures used in anthroposophical practices and clinics since the 1920s are partly the same as those employed in modern oncology in the twenty-first century. Initial studies indicate a beneficial effect of AM in oncology with respect to an improvement in quality of life and a reduction of the side-effects of systemic tumor therapy approaches.
