A new guaiane sesquiterpene (1) was isolated from cultures of the fungus Fulvifomes kanehirae. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic methods including extensive 2D-NMR techniques. Meanwhile, the compound was tested for its inhibitory activity against isozymes of 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases (11 beta-HSD).
