A novel monomeric manganese(II) complex, Na-2[Mn(Me(3)NCH(2)CH(2) CO2)(4)(H2O)(2)](ClO4)(4) . 4H(2)O has been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Each Mn(II) atom is in a distorted octrahedral O-6 environment with a pair of syn monodentate carboxylato groups and a pair of anti monodentate carboxylato groups, as well as two aqua ligands. The Mn-O bond lengths are in the range 2.167(3)-2.204(3) Angstrom.
