Axially polarized permanent magnet ring is the basis to design a new type of radial permanent magnet bearing. With combination of size and number of permanent magnet rings, different permanent magnet bearings can be designed to meet different needs, in which the magnet field distribution of rings determines the performance of permanent magnet bearings. From the molecular current viewpoint, the magnetic vector potential was employed to obtain the analytical the magnet field distribution expressed by complete elliptic integral for axially polarized permanent magnet ring. Using the principle of linear superposition, the magnet field distribution of one or several permanent magnet rings can be obtained. Comparing the simulations and experimental data of a permanent magnet ring, the calculation error of the magnet flux density is less than 8%. The results show that the calculation formula is correct.
