Anion assisted self-assembly of a Ni(II) complex into metallo-supramolecular network involving H-bonded synthons as nodes

A trinuclear nickel complex {[Ni(3)(HAmTrz)(6)center dot 6H(2)O]center dot 2H(2)O center dot 6NO(3)]}(n) 1 has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, IR, and TG/DTA. Nitrate anions of the crystal lattice are found to play an important role in the molecular self-assembly of [Ni(3)(HAmTrz)(6)center dot 6H(2)O](6+) Cationic building block into an overall three-dimensional network of 1 involving variety of homomeric R(8)(4)(36) and heteromeric R(2)(2)(8), R(4)(4)(20), R(8)(8)(41) supramolecular synthons. Furthermore, the material exhibit., magnetic interaction of the Ni(II) Centers existing in the whole trimeric building block.
