Durability analysis and structural modification for vehicle front suspension cross member

Finite element method is applied to the front suspension cross member of a car in its development phase. The vulnerable area of its original structure is identified by durability simulation, based on which a structural modification scheme is proposed. The simulation results show that the fatigue life of modified structure is about three times as higher as the original one, which is verified by durability bench test.
