New HPLC Method for Quality Control of beta-Escin in Aesculus hippocastanum L. Hydroalcoholic Extract

摘要

The major phytoconstituent present in Aesculus hippocastanum L. is a complex mixture of triterpene saponin glycosides known as escin. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a simple and fast HPLC method for quantification of beta-escin in A. hippocastanum L. hydroalcoholic extract. It was proposed, developed and validated a method by liquid chromatography with UV detection (HPLC-UV). The method was validated for specificity, linearity, limits of detection and quantification, precision, accuracy and robustness and was proven adequate for quality control of this natural product.
