摘要
A total of 35 ticks were collected from a dead Bison at Gudalur, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India. The ticks were morphologically identified as Amblyomma integrum and Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides. PCR amplification of 537 base pair mtCOX 1 gene of A. integrum was performed and confirmed as A. integrum. The phylogenetic tree indicates the presence of a common ancestor tick between the Amblyomma integrum of Gudalur, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India and A. hebraeum of South Africa. This is the first report on the occurrence of A. integrum ticks on Bos gaurus in Tamil Nadu (India) and molecular confirmation of A. integrum by sequencing the mtCOX 1 gene.
