摘要
This paper presents the evolutionary theories contained in Jose Rodriguez Carracido's works entitled La evolucion en la quimica (1894) and "Filogenia quimica de la molecula albuminoidea" (1917). The most original aspects of his theory are put into the scientific context of his time: Spencer's evolutionary philosophy and Crookes and Plfuger's hypothesis supported by him. The interest of these works regarding the problems arisen by the introduction the evolutionary theories in Spain is highlighted, coming to the conclusion that despite these works show some anachronisms and speculations, they represent a coherent and valuable contribution at that time.
