Alternative medicine is a mixture of various medical and pseudomedical treatments that are used instead of conventional therapy. Most actual alternative methods are based on concepts that are not conclusive or evaluated. We should oppose treatment with Ukrain, Galavit, vitamin B17 (Laetrile), nutrition following the recommendations of Coy, redifferentiation therapy, therapy according to the recommendations of Hulda Clark, Hamer's"New German Medicine," insulin-potentiated therapy, Flor-Essence, and the autologous tumor therapy of Klehr. However, therapies that replace conventional treatments may be considered when they are reasonable and acknowledge the patient's current situation, the tumor entity, and experiences on the basis of rational criteria. Then these therapies can be accepted and may be considered rational and scientific medicine.
