摘要

Aim. Some sport injuries are of difficult treatment and therefore new therapies that might reduce gaps of sport practice need to be taken into consideration. The aim of this presentation is to evaluate the efficacy of media wave diathermy with trans-dermal transfer of ketoprofen in treatment of acute and chronic muscular and tendon injuries.
Methods. We have considered 69 subjects (24 female and 45 male) aged 18-60 years, affected by acute (29 cases) and chronic (40 cases) sport muscle and tendon disease, diagnosed with clinical exam and echography. All subjects have been submitted to treatment with diathermy a 480 kHz and with squared wave at 70 Hz to transdermal delivery of 80 mg of ketoprofen. We have applied 8 treatments (3 per week, every 2 days).
Results. After 3 weeks, pain was reduced significantly according to VAS (median difference 4, 95% Cl from 2.8 to 4.2) and clinical tests. Functional status significantly improved as established by Steinbroker modified index. Acute and chronic cases, muscular and tendon injuries improved similarly. Echographic images changed only in acute muscular injuries.
Discussion and conclusion. The effects of treatment appear to stimulate recovery and reduce pain in no specific way respect to injury type, anatomic site, time, age and sex. Mean wave diathermy showed positive effects in treatment of muscle and tendon sport injuries with result similar to other physical therapies like tecartherapy and microwave diathermy. It showed specific properties that are effective also when other therapies failed.
