New potassium ion-bridged chainlike assembly from bisupporting Keggin units: K[M(phen)(2)(H2O)](2)[PW12O40] center dot 2H(2)O (M=Fe, Cu)

Two novel heteropolytungstates K[M(phen)(2)(H2O)](2)[PW12O40] center dot 2H(2)O (M = Fe 1, Cu 2, phen = 1, 10'-phenanthroline)have been synthesized and characterized by IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The two compounds are isomorphous and crystallized in the space group P (1) over bar. They exhibit interesting 1D chainlike architectures assembled by potassium ions bridged bisupporting Keggin units. To our. knowledge, it is the first time that supported polyoxoanions are linked by alkali metals into extended structures.
