摘要

It is known that as the particle size decreases zeta potential increases in most of the cases. An attempt was made to study this trend with propafol emulsion. The propafol emulsion was prepared and homogenized using high pressure homogenizer at 8000 bars under chilled conditions. Particle size and zeta potential were measured at each cycle using Malvern size analysis. It is clearly seen the association of zeta potential with particle size. The marketed Diprivan (Propafol emulsion) has 170 nm of particles size so; homogenization was carried to achieve this range. The particle size was reduced using High pressure homogenizer and the desired particle size was achieved at seventh cycle. Zeta potential increased from -29.49 mV to -43.2 mV as the size decreased from 1500 nm (Crude emulsion) to 177 nm.
