In [1] the authors presented a pair of equations that described the unbounded contact line length ratio, U/(s,h)(i) (xi), for spur and helical gears. The authors found an error in the definition of U/(h)(i)(xi) that compromises the analytical load sharing and mesh stiffness model when it is applied to helical gears. This note aims to correct the mathematical definition of U/(h)(i) (xi) Eq (6) from [1] should read according to Eq. (1) presented in this note.
