Unmet SS: Soft switch systems on supporting network convergence and network openness

Characteristics of soft switch which supports network convergence and network openness are discussed, and a layered architecture of soft switch is proposed, which includes protocol adaptation subsystem, call control subsystem, service adaptation subsystem and OAM subsystem. Some implementation mechanisms are analyzed, including a layered call control model, a method for protocol adaptation based on unified messages and an extensible scenario for implementing Parlay API. Testing results show this system is satisfied to national standard in performance requirements.
